The port of Ciutadella where the ferry arrives is about 3 kilometers from the city center. From Ciutadella you can take the public bus that connects with the cities of Alaior and Ferreries, with final destination to the city of Mahón. Some interesting proposals:
- In Alaior you can take a self-guided route that includes 3 of the main places of interest: the church of Santa Eulália, a civil war anti-aircraft shelter and a traditional Menorca town house. We can complement this route with a walk through its streets or visit a cheese factory.
- In Ferreries we can enjoy one of the typical towns of Menorca, with its cobbled streets and white houses and buildings.
- In Mahón we can enjoy its old town, with its streets and historical buildings, or near its port, the largest natural port in the Mediterranean. For lovers of Gin, a visit to Gin Xorriguer is a must.
- Ciutadella can be our last stop of the trip. Here we can enjoy the stately atmosphere of the city, with its walls, its narrow streets, its Cathedral, the Plaza del Born ... and even enjoy a light dinner before starting the return trip with the ferry.
These are just some suggestions, because if you decide to rent a car once you get off the ferry in Menorca, you can discover many more corners of this island, such as Binibeca or Cala Galdana. We had a fantastic day trip to Menorca with No Frills Excursions from Alcudia. It's such a brilliant way to get a taste of Menorca without having to book a separate stay. The crossing over was very rough, and unfortunately almost everyone seemed to suffer from seasickness! Out of our family of five, only myself and my 7-year-old managed to survive without being ill! It certainly wasn't ideal, but that's the risk with a rough sea. The return crossing in the evening was much calmer and I didn't see anyone being sick. No Frills Excursions were really well organised throughout. We hadn't made any plans for our time in Menorca and simply spent the day wandering around, exploring and enjoying the island. It was lovely to have over eight hours of free time to do whatever we wanted. If we did it again, I'd probably hire a car so we could explore a little further afield, but we still had a wonderful day without one. I'd definitely recommend this excursion to anyone wanting to experience a little bit of Menorca while staying in Mallorca. Thank you for a lovely day!

If you are looking for the best excursions in Mallorca that let you see even more of the Balearic Islands, this is definitely the one to book. I traveled with a friend, and booking through NoFrills Excursions made the entire process incredibly straightforward. They handled the passenger registration seamlessly and told us exactly what information to provide. The ferry ride takes just over an hour each way, which maximizes your time on land. We had enough free time to take a public bus across the island, explore the massive natural port in Mahón, and still make it back to Ciutadella for a light dinner before the evening return crossing. The organization is top-notch, the prices are excellent, and the modern boat even has a bar service on board.

We decided to take our teenagers to Menorca for the day while staying in Mallorca. The booking process with this local company was completely transparent, as they sent clear instructions to our inbox about the check-in time and the kiosk inside the terminal. The crew at the port and the vessel staff were very nice and helped us with everything, making it a zero-worry travel day so we could just focus on discovering charming spots like Ferreries and Alaior.

As a senior traveler, I prefer day trips that are well-organized and don't require complex planning. The fast ferry from Alcudia was very comfortable with great indoor seating and an outdoor sun deck to enjoy the views. It is highly commendable if you want to explore the historic towns and local culture of a neighboring island in just one day.

My partner and I wanted to see a bit of Menorca without booking a hotel, and this same-day return ticket was perfect. It gave us over 7 hours of free time to wander around the beautiful streets of Ciutadella at our own pace. For a quick island-to-island trip, this offers fantastic value for money.

Fast ferry. Only 1 hrs and 15 mins. 2km walk to old town. Lovely old town. Beautiful cathedral, convent, shops, restaurants, bars. I then headed down to port that was like a fishing village. Had lunch/dinner over looking the water and enjoyed some wine people watching. Went for more strolling around the old town. Stopped in a square drinking wine people watching and then walked back to ferry port. I went as a solo traveller. Ideal for couples families too

Didn’t read the part about being there 1hour before departure on the way but they called me and asked where I was luckily I was on my way and the ferry was in sight! Ferry was very clean and departed early both ways did get a little sea sick though, air con on ferry a little too good actually felt freezing so was glad to get off! Great price for return journey just for a change of scenery for the day, was a bit disappointed in having to be back at port an hour before departure as was just sitting around and could of spent that time catching up with an old friend who lives in menorca, most other trips I been on it’s minimum of 15 mins before departure
